Rules & Regulations for Brush Wars Professional Competition “Circus Arcadia” 2018

  1. Pre-registration for all entries closes on Friday 21st September 2018
  2. Entry is subject to the discretion of Olympia Beauty and open to Makeup and Body Artists who work as professionals in their field. Each contestant should have more than 3 years experience working as a makeup and/or body artist.
  3. All personal information given will be used as detailed here:  https://www.olympiabeauty.co.uk/how-we-use-your-personal-information/. By registering for the Brush Wars competition, you are agreeing to these terms.
  4. Places will not be guaranteed for entries submitted after the deadline date or without payment.
  5. The organisers will confirm entry to each Professional Makeup/Body Artist contestant by email.
  6. Please ensure that on the Olympia Beauty Brush Wars Competition day you are aware of the Professional Makeup/Body Artist Competition arrival times and ensure journeys are planned prior to the event.
  7. Competitors arriving after the specific start time may not be allowed entry.
  8. All models must be over 16 years of age and apply for a Model Pass to the show.
  9. All candidates should be registered at the competition check in desk with your model to receive the Brush Wars Instagram competition ID badges.
  10. The competition for the Professional Makeup/Body Artist will take place in the designated makeup area on the Gallery Level in the Grand Hall, Olympia London on Monday 1st October 2018.
  11. You will be shown to your allocated work area which will display your name. This area will have a chair and workspace. You should ensure your model is wearing a protective cape to protect clothing until the final presentation.
  12. Publicised timings are for illustration purposes and may change due to operational constraints.
  13. No assistance to be given to the Professional Makeup/Body Artist competitor throughout the duration of the competition in regards to the application.
  14. Each competitor for the Brush Wars Professional Makeup/Body Artist competition should apply face makeup & body painting representing a Circus theme to themselves or on a model. The application should offer a vision representing a theme of your interpretation of a Circus inspiration. The makeup design should incorporate body art up to 50% of the body which could include legs, arms or upper body on the front or back sections. Contestants may incorporate part costume and prosthetics to complete their design.
  15. Use inspirations of Circus themed visuals as source promoted on a mood board but the finished design should be individual and unique to the Makeup/Body Artist.
  16. All Professional Makeup/Body Artists are required to submit a mood board of their chosen design; this should include sketches, planning, research and the final design. All mood boards should have the competitors name at the top and the title of your character/theme and will be presented on the day of the competition.
  17. Hair/Wigs/Hair accessories, may be added to your design for a finishing and overall styling effect. Finalists will be given 30 minutes prior to the start of the competition to prepare the hair/wigs.
  18. You are required to bring your own equipment of makeup, small makeup mirror and tools. You can also bring additional lighting if needed (desk lamp or Makeup Light/portable light recommended)
  19. All competitors must promote and abide by strict hygiene standards in the application of face and body makeup or points will be deducted.
  20. Time limits during the final competition at Olympia Beauty will be strictly adhered to. The time limit for the Professional makeup competition is 3 hours
  21. Advertising of business, salons or products is not permitted during the competition, unless prior agreement with the organisers.
  22. No smoking, drinking, eating or use of mobile phones is permitted in the competition & preparation area. However models are permitted warm drinks in this category.
  23. To assist fellow competitors, noise/conversation is to be kept to a minimum in the competition area
  24. Each competitor is responsible for cleaning up their area of work on completion of the competition.
  25. Failure to follow competition rules and guidelines will result in disqualification or a deduction of points at the organiser’s discretion
  26. All mobile phones must be switched off (including all models), competitors may be disqualified for phones ringing/vibrating or answered during the competition as this is a distraction to your fellow competitors
  27. Photographs will be taken at the event by the official photographer(s), the organisers and sponsors reserve the right to use images gathered in their marketing collateral and for promotional use as required
  28. Decisions by judges are final and no correspondence will be entered into. All scoring will remain confidential to Olympia Beauty
